Christianity is the religion of joy ! Jesus is not saying that whoever wants to follow me to wipe out any desire from oneself of ambition , thirsting after a sense of achievement and dare to be insignificant, weak and fallible . But bravely He says , that it is good if you want to be great, be the greatest in your family , in society! He even tells you how you can become great, the greatest :whoever wants to become the greatest should be the servant of all.If you take upon your shoulder the worries , problems , difficulties of your companions and you try to solve those with the love of a lesser brother , humbly, if you can be at the service of your fellow human beings with a pure heart , then for him you’ll be irreplaceable , important and this way you’ll be precious in the eyes of God as well really , really great in other words you’ll become a saint . The one who unselfishly takes upon his shoulders the burdens, worries and problems   of his local parish, his people ,even more so of mankind and enclosing them in his heart looks for answers for their questions , even though  as a burning candle for the community is consumed , yet his life for many becomes a blessing . There are so many difficulties , problems needing solutions in people’s lives . According to the christlike interpretation for a person “aiming high”  these problems are the real gifts , noble trophies . Of course it is not easy to swim to a person drowning in the water and saving their lives by pulling them ashore . A desperate man is kicking and can easily cause us pain, and moreover the danger exists that he can pull you down into the deep , but in the end no-one has a greater love than the one who gives his life for his own !
Seeing a child in trouble we can shrug our shoulders , we can be judgemental over the parents, society , we can blame the Church , the mayor, the different state organisations , but by doing all this the child still won’t be fed . The time is passing, the fabric of society is fraying . We have to dress into new clothing our big family slowly reaching eight billion. Our Creator God quite certainly does not want us to join the ranks of the complaining , the ones even feeling sorry for the fraying, old clothes , but He wants us that in the light of His gospel out of love to cut out, sew new clothes , to formulate very humbly , with the example of our live’s  toilsome work the  rules of new type of coexistence . Our duty is not waiting for the end of the world , but the building of the kingdom of God. We should not be talking to each other in the voice of downhearted  hopelessness but with the voice of good brethren looking for a way out, giving hope , courage. Be an answer to the questions , be a healing balm for the wounds , be bread for the hungry , fresh water for the thirsty and then you’ll become great, the greatest and not only for your brothers in trouble, struggling with problems but in the eyes of our heavenly Father as well !

They went on from there and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know it; for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, "The Son of Man is to be betrayed into human hands, and they will kill him, and three days after being killed, he will rise again." But they did not understand what he was saying and were afraid to ask him. Then they came to Capernaum; and when he was in the house he asked them, "What were you arguing about on the way?" But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another who was the greatest. He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, "Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all." Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me."

I like very much following the Master whilst reading the gospel. Today’s passage of the holy scriptures places Christ in front of us as He is coming down from Mount Tabor . There is a big argument , noise Jesus asks from the apostles :" ‘What are you arguing about with them?’” Mark 9, 14.
Then when He finds out that His disciples could not, dared not , neither wanted to help a child in trouble then He chides the ones standing around Him: 17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.”Matthew 17, 17- then nicely , calmly solves the problem . Jesus is not saying to the father that :yes my disciples are too insignificant they have not learned this yet, please do not be angry with them ! But neither is He saying to the apostles , that it does not matter, no problems,  you just sit back in awe ! But says angrily : How much longer should I stay with you, when will you finally learn to be good to each other, help with faith the ones in trouble ? It seems that Jesus expects that the apostles following in His footsteps for years , can solve the father’s problem without Him as well . Jesus speaks clearly, He does not want us to be shrugging our shoulders indifferently and just say , we don’t know how to go about it , we are too small for this , but He wants that we act in His name to produce fruit , lasting fruit .
It is worthwhile  think about it where our boundaries , limits are ? I wonder that “how big am I “ on my own in my own eyes , and by bravely taking hold of the blessed  hand of God then how “big do I become “? According to our school children 2-3 km is a lot, yet with the same children if we set out on a pilgrimage , we easily do 20 kms singing, praying . To lear a poem 2-3 paragraphs long and learning some mathematical or physics formulae at school, according to the children is very difficult , but those children get happily ready for the performance of a play lasting 2 hours. Our students last Saturday in Budapest at a Teacher’s Expo in front of 2000 teachers presented a gala performance , at the end of which the teachers were clapping  standing up . I ask you in reality “how big are we “ ? How far are we willing to go ?How long should Jesus put up with our going around in circles , our writhing like a lame duck ? Why do we condemn ourselves looking at it from a mental, physical, spiritual aspect to become puny dwarfs ? Why don’t we dare to spread our wings and get going with our faith devoted in God , to make our most beautiful dreams come true ?
Upon the encouragement of our Lord Jesus Christ following the example of Saint Peter with prayer and love row out into the deep , cast the net , because it is quite certain that the Father of mercy is going to fill it my tossing boat with His grace and all that I have need for.
With love ,

When they came to the disciples, they saw a great crowd around them, and some scribes arguing with them. When the whole crowd saw him, they were immediately overcome with awe, and they ran forward to greet him. He asked them, ‘What are you arguing about with them?’ Someone from the crowd answered him, ‘Teacher, I brought you my son; he has a spirit that makes him unable to speak; and whenever it seizes him, it dashes him down; and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid; and I asked your disciples to cast it out, but they could not do so.’ He answered them, ‘You faithless generation, how much longer must I be among you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him to me.’ And they brought the boy to him. When the spirit saw him, immediately it threw the boy into convulsions, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked the father, ‘How long has this been happening to him?’ And he said, ‘From childhood. It has often cast him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him; but if you are able to do anything, have pity on us and help us.’ Jesus said to him, ‘If you are able!—All things can be done for the one who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out, ‘I believe; help my unbelief!’ When Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, ‘You spirit that keep this boy from speaking and hearing, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again!’ After crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, ‘He is dead.’ But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he was able to stand. When he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, ‘Why could we not cast it out?’ He said to them, ‘This kind can come out only through prayer.

Our Lord Jesus Christ not only involves His disciples in the work but also assigns the tasks between them ! Peter: "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”Matthew 16,13
The disciples “grow up “ , become mature adults ,  Christians with responsibilities  by the fact that Jesus not only trusts in them , but also entrusts them with the beautiful task of the further creation of the world ! The duty of the apostles and their disciples is, to teach all people, every nation  till the end of times, the commandment of love ! Yes God, entrusts Saint Peter and his companions the building  of the kingdom of love ! He has confidence in these people , whom He got to know 2-3 years prior  , and the fruit of His trust  is the Church that has been in existence for two thousand years , the many-many wonderful saints , wise teachers , close on two milliard baptised Christians who live in the world of our times , not even mentioning the countless churches, monasteries, wonderful shrines that cover the whole world ! The great , beautiful miracle of  our Church's trust in God’s creations , in the people , in itself is enough to force us on our knees , to motivate us to become followers  of Christ !
Lets share the tasks ! I was convinced many a  times just how many wonderful young people live in the homes of the Saint Francis Foundation! Now I am asking them that they organise themselves the Youth Meeting of Székelyhíd  between 28-30 June 2019 !  We’ll support them all the way , but the planning, organisation , execution of the event is the task of the young people growing up in our homes !
Lets dare to involve people in our work , lets dare to share our tasks , lets dare to pass on our functions to the young people growing up around us !

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" And they said, "Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

How many beautiful stone churches are there in the world !! Your body is the Temple of God !! I wonder what your Temple is like ? Is it consecrated  , or is it a den of sin ? Is there an altar , a sacrifice, offering in your Temple ? Is there a flower in front of your God ? Is the flame of God’s love continuously burning ? Are you a human cathedral , or just a chapel in ruins along the roadside ??
Looking at pictures one more beautiful than the other  “ just for yourself “ draw that church , that you built , or are building in your heart for your God. ….

Now the disciples had forgotten to bring any bread; and they had only one loaf with them in the boat. And he cautioned them, saying, "Watch out - beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod." They said to one another, "It is because we have no bread." And becoming aware of it, Jesus said to them, "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not perceive or understand?" Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes, and fail to see? Do you have ears, and fail to hear? And do you not remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you collect?' They said to him, 'Twelve.' 'And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you collect?' And they said to him, 'Seven.' Then he said to them, 'Do you not yet understand?'

“Be glad ….and rejoice!"
A Christian by accepting the  burdens of life and all the difficulties associated with the duties of his standing in society day after day patiently taking them on , then they have every reason to live happily and trusting, that his life despite all problems, worries will culminate in rejoicing ! A Christian is not joyous because things are going well , or because the money is accumulating nicely in the bank , but because despite all his weaknesses he still knows that God considers him as one of His own and loves him !! A God-fearing man can be happy even in the lions’ den , because Jesus does not attach the conditions of our happiness to extraordinary performances , or achievements delighting the eyes, but to our personal relation with Him !! The results of our work in reality are the gifts of God ! We sow , we fall into the ground just like the good seed, or the gentle spring rain , but it is our Creator who gives the produce, the fruit, , when His Holy Majesty sees it fit !!
It maybe that you are poor, perhaps you hunger , cry, your good intentions are misinterpreted  and that say all sorts of vile things about you, but if you walk on the path of love , you’ll be happy .True happiness cannot be given by wealth, richest, success, condescension  , the source of happiness is not here but in the arms of your creator God ! A good Christian desires to be there !!

He came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea, Jerusalem, and the coast of Tyre and Sidon.
Then he looked up at his disciples and said:
‘Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.
‘Blessed are you who are hungry now,
   for you will be filled.
‘Blessed are you who weep now,
   for you will laugh.
‘Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice on that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets.
‘But woe to you who are rich,
for you have received your consolation.
‘Woe to you who are full now,
   for you will be hungry.
‘Woe to you who are laughing now,
for you will mourn and weep.
‘Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.

We are reflection upon  God’s  beautiful virtue in taking care of His children in the eights week in the year of  2019 dedicated in honour of our Heavenly Father !
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” 29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. Book of Genesis 1,27-29
How nicely did God work out everything , how well we could live together in brotherly love and then we have to read such news items, so that we can see it with our own eyes :”Approximately 20% of the world’s population under the age seventeen , that is more than 380 million children and young people are growing up in extremely poor conditions .”according to the MTI .
God did not create man for poverty, privations ! Poverty , hunger , misery exist not because God did not provide for His children , but because we take away God’s gifts from each other! In our world today smart computers  keep track of everything . The states know exactly how much food gets to each shop, every shelf , they know how much they are worth , how much is needed , how many are left after their expiry date ! Unfortunately all that is left has to be disposed off, they even keep a record of the cost of how much they pay for the removal of the produce , that is delivered first to the shops and when they have to be taken away to be disposed off !   Economists worked out the cost of these wasted items of food and added it up. In developed countries the cost of the produce needed , delivered to the shops and being removed from there to be  legally thrown out  , if this amount would be the GDP of a country , then that country would be the world’s fifth richest country in the world .
Jesus does not feed people Himself, He just blesses and multiplies in Cana as well but according to today’s gospel people’s work and efforts ! Jesus blessed two thousand years ago people’s goodness the seven loaves of bread and fish , I also believe that even today he blesses the goodness, helpful intentions of those people bending down to their needy brethren ! God is not tight-fisted , we are greedy , heartless, disorganised .
There where we are lets pay attention to each other and lets do everything so that the coming generations can live their lives in this world in abundance , glorifying God’d goodness !
With love,

In those days when there was again a great crowd without anything to eat, he called his disciples and said to them, "I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way - and some of them have come from a great distance." His disciples replied, "How can one feed these people with bread here in the desert?" He asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven." Then he ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground; and he took the seven loaves, and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them to the crowd. They had also a few small fish; and after blessing them, he ordered that these too should be distributed. They ate and were filled; and they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full. Now there were about four thousand people.

Often our prayer is so powerless !! We are knocking feebly ,timidly , we only turn to our creator God reluctantly , hesitantly , doubtingly !! Lets not be surprised if our petitions are not heard ! Lets learn from the pagan woman of Syrophoenician origin ! Lets ask courageously , persistently , lets knock , rattle till our petition will be heard !! Jesus likes the brave mother, fighting for her child , does not refuse her, but fulfils her almost demanding requests !!

From there Jesus set out and went away to the region of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know he was there. Yet he could not escape notice, but a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately heard about him, and she came and bowed down at his feet. Now the woman was a Gentile, of Syrophoenician origin. She begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter. He said to her, "Let the children be fed first, for it is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs." But she answered him, "Sir, even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs." Then he said to her, "For saying that, you may go--the demon has left your daughter." So she went home, found the child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

“..what comes out of a person that defiles.” Matthew 7, 14
What sort of desires move me ? What do I long for my creator God , or for the creations of my creator God ? Did I get as far , that the Giver is what I want , or are still the gifts of the Giver that I want ? An important question : what did I put my hand out for today : For what did I tire , work for today ? For what did I give my day away for ?
Your heart is where your treasure is ! What you gather , is what you become ! ! If you searched for beautiful, holy things , then you’ll become beautiful and holy as well ! But if you look for sinful relations , you are lead by selfish desires for possessions , looking for rust eaten  junk then quite certainly you’ll be also transformed to the standard, level of your “friend, goals “!!
Measure the desires of your heart to the Infinity,

Then he called the crowd again and said to them, "Listen to me, all of you, and understand: there is nothing outside a person that by going in can defile, but the things that come out are what defile." When he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable. He said to them, "Then do you also fail to understand? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile, since it enters, not the heart but the stomach, and goes out into the sewer?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.) And he said, "It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person."

Hypocrites ! Hypocrisy ! Lets quieten down and look within myself, how much has this  bad habit chastised by Jesus become ingrained in me !?
The man of our days very often is not “ existing “ only seems to be something we present, that is not what we actually are .During the past days we worked out the actual cost per the number of students using the budget for a  Hungarian country school, also taking into account the number of "teaching days.” In that particular school the cost per day is five thousand five hundred forint . That means that every single school year is costing one million forint , This is how much money the taxpayers are paying every single student and this does not include any maintenance , building schools , nor any other expenses . I am asking, how much are the students, teachers  actually doing for the taxpayers “donation” ?
Hypocrisy ! Unfortunately everyday happenings , to put in tenders for large amounts , make promises indiscriminately , then with the money received  they give some form of account. Unfortunately the end result is that nothing comes of it . All sorts of so called “experts” have put in tenders for solving all sorts “made-up “ problems ! For example  studies of the Hungarians living in the diaspora , reports using big words were prepared but just how much the people affected , communities in trouble  profited from this is very questionable i.e. very little. Unfortunately , I know a group of such people  who also putting in large tenders using photos of the children of the Saint Francis Foundation , then with a few face-painting tricks , and with a few banal offering  give count of  the money received from the tenders . . Hypocrisy !
We pretend that we pray , we pretend that we work , we pretend that we love one another and in the mean time we are scraping by like the barren fig tree ! This is how it is, lets not be surprised if Christ looking for fruit that we produced in our lives curses us . We can mislead ourselves , each other with hypocrisy , but we cannot mislead God . Lets sit down to study , we adults should do everything possible that the children really knuckle down to study , that the educational institutions kept up by a lot of money , may really become the citadels of knowledge , study , development, wisdom . For every single coin that came from the tax extorted  from human labour , if you applied for it , at the last judgement you have to account for . Money that was tendered for is a talent , that if we do not make good use of , we can count on God’s judgement .
Hypocricy tries to worm its way in thousands of different ways into the deepest sanctuary  our lives day after day , but lets not allow it, like a gardener the weed, lets get rid of it without mercy , because by growing “tall” it can suffocate us , killing everything that is valuable, important for us !!
Escaping from the sin of hypocrisy ,
Father Csaba
translated by dr k.e.
The Word of God
Now when the Pharisees and some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered around him, they noticed that some of his disciples were eating with defiled hands, that is, without washing them. (For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat unless they thoroughly wash their hands, thus observing the tradition of the elders; and they do not eat anything from the market unless they wash it; and there are also many other traditions that they observe, the washing of cups, pots, and bronze kettles.) So the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, ‘Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?’ He said to them, ‘Isaiah prophesied rightly about you hypocrites, as it is written,
“This people honours me with their lips,
 but their hearts are far from me;
in vain do they worship me,
 teaching human precepts as doctrines.”
You abandon the commandment of God and hold to human tradition.’
Then he said to them, ‘You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition! For Moses said, “Honour your father and your mother”; and, “Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must surely die.” But you say that if anyone tells father or mother, “Whatever support you might have had from me is Corban” (that is, an offering to God)— then you no longer permit doing anything for a father or mother, thus making void the word of God through your tradition that you have handed on. And you do many things like this.’

On 11 February 1858 , in Lourdes the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette . At the site of the apparition a spring stemmed , in its water during the last decades many-many people regained their health. In 1993 Pope John Paul II  declared  11February The World Day of the Sick. Since then on this day we pray for spiritual -bodily health on this day .
According to the gospel many people asked from Jesus Christ strength and healing and received it .  Wherever He went " people at once recognized him, and rushed about that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. And wherever he went, into villages or cities or farms, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak; and all who touched it were healed.” Mark 6, 53-56
Do I believe that there is a cure for my problems, illnesses  , that I am capable to stand up , get better , start again ? Many of the people who go on pilgrimages to Lourdes , praying , fasting have been healed . Do I believe that fasting, the pilgrimage trying your body and soul , the prayer ,searching for the presence of God can also heal me ?
How great it would be if in trouble, sickness I would not let myself go , if I would not only trust my healing to the chemicals prescribed by doctors , but I would also get going repenting, visiting my homeland’s sanctuaries , with the prayer of body and soul would turn to my Creator . I believe , that not only on 11 February and not only in Lourdes , but on every single day of the year anywhere around the world God hears the prayer of the sick crying out for help .
Get up and go , according to the medicos we have to walk 10 kms a day . The lack of moving about is one of the most important source of the illnesses  of our times . Our Mother the Church for thousands of years does not only want to take us on pilgrimages, but encourages us to use self-denial , fasting . The other canker of our days is the immeasurable consumption of food. Very many people eat till they make themselves ill. I believe that the healthy fasting is the physician of the body and soul .
The message of Lourdes is : set out own your pilgrimage , fast and with prayerful love search for the presence of your God , and you’ll be healed . You cannot trust your bodily-spiritual health only to the expensive medications available, you are more than the chemicals that can be obtained from pharmacies ! Your bodily -spiritual health is in your hand , trust in your creator God , who wants you that by increasing in strength , health you produce fruit , lasting fruit .
With love ,

The God giving gifts ! Perhaps one of the most beautiful features of our God is His willingness to present us with gifts. Simply our existence , the creation are gifts , since our Creator presented the non-existing one with the  gift of being .Then the existing one He presents with the conditions for existence , man with Eden, freewill , the power of freedom of forming the world, with art, wisdom , the endless opportunity of starting anew . God’s love of being a giver never ceases , giving mankind newer and newer opportunities , sending prophets into the world and in the final times even gives us His Holy Son : “because God so loved the world that He gave us His Only Son “. This beautiful feature of the giver is shining on Jesus’ face as well , He addresses the fishermen trying in vain during the whole night :  “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”, Peter obeys and the net is filled with fish.Gift ? Blessing ? Miracle! In truth Jesus’ being is gift, blessing, miracle ! Jesus’ life is full of miracles , with beautiful moments of distributing gifts , since every single healing, teaching, consolation , good word is  a gift . At wedding in Cana He gives close on 600 litres of wine to the happy wedding guests ! The family of Jairus quite certainly lived as a gift the healing of their child . The people around Zacchaeus  quite certainly looked at the conversion of the  greedy customs official as a gift . Jesus does not only give give gifts, He Himself was the gift, wherever He appeared, spoke the world became better , people became more honest, wiser . Good Friday , the redemption is a gift :” There is no greater love than this—that a man should lay down his life for his friends.
“God , the Creator, Jesus Christ, the Holy Trinity is a gift , blessing for all of us ! Let us think whether on our faces is this beautiful divine gift shining as well ? I wonder wether when and to whom did I give a gift in the past days, years ? For how many people is my being a blessing, gift ? Am I endeavouring to be a blessing, gift for my homeland and for all those who live , are in  in my homeland : people, vegetation, animals , but even for the inanimate buildings, rocks, rivers as well ?
We are celebrating the sacrament of love, marriage ! ! Lets get going towards each other with a smile, a small surprise, attentiveness , gift !! Do not be afraid to step on the way of giving gifts , it is good to give gifts , to become the blessing of God, to become a loudly proclaimed good word of His  in this world . The best gift we can give ourselves , if we also where we are , become gifts for all who live around us .
Lets set out on the narrow, bumpy, but beautiful way of becoming gifts .
With love,

5 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a] the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.”11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.
