Father Csaba’s reflection on the gospel Monday 9 April 2018 Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord
I believe that all of us but especially the losers of the parties of parliamentary elections could learn a lot from the dialogue between the archangel Gabriel and Mary ! Lets try to quieten down the roused tempers , in the long weeks preceding the elections, create peace within our hearts and calmly reflect upon this short meeting changing the whole world ! The great angel, sent by our Infinite Creator God, who looks up and addresses Mary the simple, young ,village girl , looking at her through our eyes today a mere child . How much respect ,kindness is in this dialogue between the angel with an infinite power and a speck of dust! Mary does not understand everything , asks questions to which she gets a reassuring, sober, wise answers and a decision is born , Mary makes a choice , She decides by God and trustingly takes hold of Her Creator’s hand!
As a pedagogue , I see it clearly that whatever truth I would like to offer successfully even to the youngest child I have to do it with the calm, kind style of God’s angel ! Even in the nicest soup if we can see one or two flies floating we turn away from the nourishment even if we are hungry!
A child has questions and if these can be answered in a reassuring way , then the one I would like to bring up, educate , form takes hold of my hand and together we can get going we can discover all the values, treasures that I would like to show them! All this can be composed, presented in a negative way ! Nobody can be made better by scolding , by beating !
There where the wise, calm, respectful voice, becomes offensive , violent, impatient shouting there people will become frozen , quieten down and regardless how valuable it is that you offer them they will reject it! Unfortunately in a lot of schools, churches , public places the messages will not get through because the frightening , repelling packaging in which they are presented ! How many precious values , how much endeavour, effort is lost, because our world is lacking in this kind, calm dialogue, respect for those who have different views , trying to find a solution for all problems !
Mary said yes to the angel of God, and this “yes” does not wear out with the passing of thousands of years , does not fade, because it was born out of mutual respect , wise, sincere dialogue and ever since then it is watered by sincere love that is never-ending !
Lets dress our truth into love and our love into truth and will achieve our common goals !

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, ‘Greetings, favoured one! The Lord is with you.’ But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.’ Mary said to the angel, ‘How can this be, since I am a virgin?’ The angel said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. For nothing will be impossible with God.’ Then Mary said, ‘Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.’ Then the angel departed from her.
