I remember that after completing theology when I got my first posting , full of anticipation I looked at the map to see where the village named Szék was. I did manage to find it near Kolozsvár at the end of a muddy road . In a fever of excitement , I sat in the church to write my inaugural speech, my first homily by which I could introduce myself . Then at the Sunday mass there were six elderly women, one single elderly man who was snoring his head off . What can I say ? The homily turned sour in my mouth .
After mass I knelt down in front of the altar . I felt very small , helpless . Well is this why I studied for six years , accepted celibacy , all the burdens of priesthood ? -I was complaining in earnest , when in my heart Jesus started speaking :” Look my son, it is true that you spent six years studying for these people , but I died for them on the cross .” - Since then I know that the Lord is the sphered, and I am the puli, the Hungarian sheepdog .

You were born to conquer the world! You have the holy curiosity within you , willingly give it momentum, get going, pull out every draw, look into every room , roam over , explore your homeland! Multiply yourself with the shared secrets of the ones who walked before you , read, study ! Use up all wisdom , truth, since these are golden nuggets , precious pearls , that others have already brought to the surface a long time ago can be yours, educate yourself , gather the treasures and make yourself a crown of them !
If you do not know the Carpathian Basin, it is an uninhabited terrain for you, a dangerous wilderness , but if you discover it ,it will become your home , it will accept you, it will carry you, will provide a living for you and your loved ones ! On the top of the mountain the view will only be really spectacular , if you will struggle for it and you go up on foot, you will sweat , perspire , you will get tired , but by conquering yourself every single conquered peak, summit will remain yours forever !
Get going courageously, God is standing by your side !!

It is wonderful to ask humbly a blessing from God, as an ordained priest to give blessing, with a sincere heart to bless children, young people!! To pray so that my brother, my companion also becomes a blessing, God’s precious gift in this beautiful world for their brethren !! Lets pray for priestly vocations , so that there will be someone who in God’s name will bless our children to be born , our everyday and at the end of our life our graves !

I regard free will the greatest force in existence : One can decide anytime, in any situation in favour of love , and unfortunately in the greatest comfort, wealth as well one can decide in favour of hatred, anger . In Auschwitz Maximilian Kolbe decide by love in the hell of the concentration camp , the shadow of the gas chambers , where from his free will he chose death in place of a family man .He could live with God even there, where the road leading to the kingdom of heaven was not blocked either . God is not unjust . The ways of life can be very different, but for every man it is equally as difficult to find salvation or suffer eternal damnation .

All of us should climb up to the pinnacle of perfect love, but we cannot get there with equal chances : the bad upbringing, loveless surrounding, bleak circumstances and other innumerable obstacles can cause us to stumble, that we cannot do anything about. God is not only the God of Justice but also the God of Love and Mercy as well . He sees the course we should have run , but He also knows well our capabilities , our knowledge , ignorance, circumstances , He clearly shows us the sins we could not help, but also the ones that we were really responsible for.
We are not all running the same course , but we have to do well in our own, It is quite certain, that God will measure everybody according to their own opportunities .

Children are the greatest need for our ageing world !! A child is the strongest medication for mankind, a vital, life-giving elixir ! Yes a child has a creative glance , as he looks at his parents , this makes them feel great, the father is transformed into the strongest man in the world and the mother into the world’s most beautiful woman ! And if the children look at me with that infinite trust, faith in their eyes , then even within me a great force , momentum, courage forges up! These innocent , pure glances can bring forth such forces in one about which even an adult would have never dreamt of ! Dare to decide by accepting life , dare to become humbly God’s partner, and have a child !!

Lets think , how often do we complain? Do I feel sorry for myself ? And also get others to feel sorry for me ?Do I lament? And how often do I sing the “Magnificat”? Do I give praise for what I got from God ? Do I give thanks for what the Lord God intended for me ? Do I posses the “marian” spirit? I think that if young people cannot accept Christianity , that is exactly for the reason that our lives are full of lamentations, complaints. When did I last loudly praise God ? When did I last rejoice in my happiness to give thanks to God for my loved ones, my work, my daily food ? Am I capable of rejoicing ? Everybody should write their own “Magnificat”! If you have the opportunity retire once into your room, or the chapel with a sheet of paper in your hand and write tour own Thanksgiving hymn !

Without Christ I do not believe that mankind would be capable to live in peace in this world, that is why the proclaiming of the gospel , the mission is not a “scout exercise”undertaken by self-diligence, zealousness but an organic part of the struggle for the survival of mankind . We either be converted , and we present each other with our merciful forgiveness, or we retaliate for our imagined, real grievances by which we can exterminate each other from the face of the earth.
When a man sets out on the way of his life , under all circumstances one is looking for an ally . One would like to take hold of someone’s hand, with whom together one can make one’s dream come true . For me Jesus Christ is a wonderful ally, companion, it is good to hold His hand , and He leads me to incredible victories, helps as He did so far as well . I do not feel any tiredness , weakness in Him . On the "market of convictions”, in the offering of allies I cannot see anybody greater, stronger, wiser , better than Him, under whose banner I would also dare to get going .

How great it would be to forget a bit about my own affairs, to be able to pay attention to others problems. Right until today this is my big strategy ! When there is a serious problem , I visit a few poor families. Perhaps God does not take my prayers so seriously , but the prayer of person who got into into trouble will certainly be dear to Him. I believe that often we should solve our own worries by helping others….

God makes me suitable to do what He asks of me . I feel like doing that. It gives me joy to do that. We have to take small, secure steps. Today as well I do what God is asking of me, and tomorrow I’ll do it as well . But give me strength to grow up for the benefit of my people. Whether they thank me or not it’s all the same . It is important that I do what the Lord asks of me. I would like to encourage you to do the same as well !
