Saint Teresa of Calcutta said :” I got to know the paradox : if I love till it hurts I forget the pain only love remains . Saint Padre Pio said :” Lets love pain ! Who has not suffered , they do not have strong feelings , their heart is lacking tenderness , from their soul the perspective . Why pain suffering ? So that the earth may grow dim , the heaven may become radiant !” Man is not looking consciously for suffering , in fact does everything to avoid it . Christ was not looking for it on the way to be crucified , but He emptied the chalice when the time came . He fell three times , but suffering great pains He got up , not with an arched back and a Hollywood smile did He carry His cross. His honour compelled Him to accept the suffering and tried to go on with human dignity . Even in this He was One amongst us and showed us an example . Jesus did not redeem the world by His miracles or great sermons , but with His suffering , and His death on the cross that He accepted out of His love for us .

The pinnacle of spiritual life is that infinite freedom , in which through our prayer life , the fulfilment of our daily obligations , the requests of the people in need , through the everyday events ,strengthened by the will of our superiors is God leading us in that way and in that direction that His Holy Majesty deems right .

When Jesus on the cross is suspended between heaven and earth , deserted by all now , unwanted by all , only wanted by Mary and John . How good it would be if we could love each other even then , when they have no longer authority, power , dignity left !If the other is despised, scorned by all , how great it would be , if on their own Good Friday they would discover Mary in me.

The man following Christ does not sink into oneself and does not despair without hope , as Judas did , but following the example of the prodigal son , stands up and goes to his father with a contrite heart , to confess his faults, weaknesses . The cleansing in repentance is God’s incredibly great gift. We do note have to feel ashamed just guided by some imagined hardness because of our fallibilities , as we were only born from a fistful of dust , even that is a miracle in itself that we can stand on two feet. We are small, insignificant and fallible , lets look for a priest and humbly confess our sins !

Many people carry a heavy cross. Under the weight of that heavy cross , one easily stumbles ,falls onto the ground . Jesus looks with merciful eyes on every person on the “ground”. He who can see into our hearts , knows also how much are we at fault for having fallen . On the other hand the correct way is not to say lying in the dust , that we are walking upright and all is well , but we should sincerely confess , that we got “muddy” , smirched and asking for Jesus’ help lets try again and again to get back on our feet , and go along the road shown by Him .

Man is not a block of marble, but is a being made out of flesh and blood , who learns , changes , is formed , transformed through experiences . We have to trust in God’s grace that is capable of transforming us . The regular confession of our sins helps us to mould, transform our conscience , in our struggles against our bad disposition , attitude , makes it possible for Christ to heal us and strengthen us in His love . We experience the gifts of God’s mercy , and this will encourage us that we ourselves become kind hearted, merciful like Him.

In the prison if the condemned person looks around , all they can see is just bars , but looking up there are no bars , as the way leading to God is equally free for everyone .
Whatever has happened , when our are mortally wounded be it because your own or other peoples’ sins , or you maybe in the maze of hopeless illnesses , there where you are , with contrite heart , humbly start loving the One who has the greatest need for your love . And trust in the One , who saw it right to create you and who is awaiting you too in His kingdom.

Man has a mission , task in this world. I am only really free , if I can fulfil the task assigned to me by God , His plans of love that He created for me. It is important to ask myself the question : am I free for God ? Am I free for the One who loves me most in this world , Who called me into existence, Who knows all my weaknesses, Who presented me with His talents and the One who knows better than anybody else what is the best for me ? Can He ask something from me according to His wise will and am I capable to say “yes” to that ? Or not ? The essence of human freedom is this ! Without this the ten commandments , the commandment of love are only of the value of museum piece , a junk that you can even discard from your life .

God said, do not kill , despite this in many states accept abortion, euthanasia . A parliamentary majority is enough to change God’s laws . Even though the commandments given by God are everlasting .Society needs the law for the right of life . How great it would be if we would regard , the basic laws of human existence also, as God saw it fit to reveal to us , as carved in stone and our communities , states , the big family of mankind would get organised according to these !

Lets take a look within myself , who do I resemble in the crowd following Jesus ?! The chief priest asking for death penalty , the hand washing Pilate , the crowd shouting “Crucify Him”- , the lamenting women or the empathic Veronica , or perhaps the helping Simon of Cyrene ? In this unceasing Good Friday who am I ? An executioner carrying out a sentence , the left brigand with a heart hardened by hatred , or Saint John embracing Mary ? I have to choose I have to make a decision , because even if I do not decide I already did and in the role of the gawping crowd I just scrape by , to whom Jesus only says "weep for yourselves “. Yes Christ wept for us at the walls of Jerusalem , as He could see that they are drifting towards destruction on the way of indifference . Being aware of my own weakness I choose Christ not Barabas and humbly I stand by the side of the condemned carrying His cross , not in the midst of the condemners intoxicated by their own so called “ right” “truth” . You also have to decide ! Consciously step on the path of compassion , love , together with the right brigand beg for Christ’s mercy !
