"They brought to him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they begged him to lay his hand on him". Mark 7, 31
Jesus does what they ask of Him ! As God , quiet certainly He was aware of the problems of this man , but does not go of His own accord to help ! The deaf-mute’s relations , friends take the man in trouble to Jesus asking for His help! Do I take the people in my family or in my surrounding who are in trouble-since I cannot help them-with prayerful love into the presence of Jesus ? Am I able to intercede for them in a prayerful way, gathering all my strength into the presence of Jesus ?!
The man on his knees has a great power , the humble prayer penetrates through heaven , let us pray for our brethren in trouble , because God is kind-hearted , loves us , and even today would like to shower with His gifts, miracles our world !

Then Jesus returned from the region of Tyre, and went by way of Sidon towards the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. They brought to him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him aside in private, away from the crowd, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue. Then looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, "Ephphatha," that is, "Be opened." And immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. Then Jesus ordered them to tell no one; but the more he ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. They were astounded beyond measure, saying, "He has done everything well; he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak."

“There is nothing outside a person that by going in can defile, but the things that come out are what defile.” Mark 7, 14
This beautiful teaching of Jesus is very important for all those , who would like to fulfil our Master’s commandment  pertaining to us :"Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. “ Matthew 5, 48 . Man cannot be sullied  from the outside and this is not only proclaimed by our Redeemer , but He also proved it in His own life during the events of Holy Thursday , Good Friday  that even on the cross one can live and die purely, saintly ! The lives of the saints following Christ are also testifying this very important teaching ! We saw in the life of Father Saint Maximilian Kolbe , since he lived his own sanctity of life in the midst of his suffering, in the hell of the second world war with undiminished faith!
It is important to think about the other side of this teaching as well ! Nobody can be sanctified from the outside ! Jesus , although He certainly would have liked , could not sanctify the priests from Herod’s court , the rich young man , Judas, neither the thief on His left hand side ! Our features are contorted by the evil, vileness coming from within, but the love springing up in our hearts , goodness , mercy , wisdom are capable to sanctify us ! From the outside neither theological studies , nor even the tranquil surrounding of a monastery are going to make a saint automatically out of anybody !
I am the master of my own life , I cannot lean back , I cannot count on anybody picking me up and lugging me into the Kingdom of Heaven ! But for my own damnation neither can I make somebody the scapegoat , regardless whom I accuse of my own “corruption”, because I am responsible for my own life ! Every man is there on the field , with the ball bouncing , the audience can barrack for us, or whistle , the winning goal we have to score , neither the referee , nor our trainer , nor our shouting supporters, fans are able to do it!
Lets wake up to our duties and with big strides lets get going on the way of the sanctity of life !
With love ,

Then he called the crowd again and said to them, "Listen to me, all of you, and understand: there is nothing outside a person that by going in can defile, but the things that come out are what defile." When he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable. He said to them, "Then do you also fail to understand? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile, since it enters, not the heart but the stomach, and goes out into the sewer?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.) And he said, "It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person."

I was invited to a nice family and when I arrived there I found out that there was a slaughtering of a pig that day and they invited me very kindly to a nice dinner of pork sausages !!It was a Friday and I usually keep the fasting , meat-free day on Fridays ! I became uncertain for a moment …, then quietly I thought about it and started putting the commandments in order ! The commandment of love is God’s commandment , the customs of fasting , the stipulation of the Church , the human commandment ! I felt if I have to choose , then it became unambiguous that Jesus Christ’s  commandment of love comes first !! I consumed the dinner heartily with my brethren without a word and then on my way home humbly I recited a decade of the Rosary , so that I could also express my love towards God on this day in my own way !!
Saint Augustin says “ You received a very short commandment : Love, and then do what you want . If you keep quiet do it out of love, if you shout , do it out of love : if you chide, do it out of love,  if you spare someone , spare them out of love , the root of love should be within you , and from this root only good can arise .”
With the love of a lesser brother I encourage you , hearten you onto this royal road, the keeping the commandment of love,

Now when the Pharisees and some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered around him, they noticed that some of his disciples were eating with defiled hands, that is, without washing them. (For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat unless they thoroughly wash their hands, thus observing the tradition of the elders; and they do not eat anything from the market unless they wash it; and there are also many other traditions that they observe, the washing of cups, pots, and bronze kettles.) So the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, ‘Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?’ He said to them, ‘Isaiah prophesied rightly about you hypocrites, as it is written,
“This people honours me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me;
in vain do they worship me,
teaching human precepts as doctrines.”
You abandon the commandment of God and hold to human tradition.’
Then he said to them, ‘You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition! For Moses said, “Honour your father and your mother”; and, “Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must surely die.” But you say that if anyone tells father or mother, “Whatever support you might have had from me is Corban” (that is, an offering to God)— then you no longer permit doing anything for a father or mother, thus making void the word of God through your tradition that you have handed on. And you do many things like this.’

People were just flocking to Jesus an they were healed ! I am amazed at how readily Jesus is accessible , can be talked to , reachable, He has time for everything , He has the strength , the willingness ! How beautiful are these features of Jesus !  I may not be able to perform miracles, raise the dead , but perhaps I should not  want to start there , but simply  that my companions dare to look me up, to address me , and talk with me sincerely….
How often do I say that I have no time , I am not available for this or that , or have no strength for it !! Do I retreat into my shell, turn off my mobile , turn my back on  my brethren looking for me ?!
Lets pray that God may grant us to become the everything for everybody , following the example of our beloved Redeemer Jesus Christ !

When Jesus and the disciples had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored the boat. When they got out of the boat, people at once recognized him, and rushed about that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. And wherever he went, into villages or cities or farms, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak; and all who touched it were healed.

Christ’s love is urging us on ! He Himself gets up at dawn and collected, after His prayer , He is urging His companions , calling them to get going ‘Let us go on to the neighbouring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.’  Mark 1, 39
Jesus not only sees as His own task in consoling , encouraging, teaching, healing , carrying out good deeds for people but He gives this task to all of us :19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[a] destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6, 19-21
All of us were born to be good, to do good and to put a smile on the face of the world! Here in Transylvania at the end of the first half year of school the children were given a week’s vacation . I went outside our house in Déva and straight away I ran into some sad children whose mother did not ring them , is not taking them home during the vacation . They latched onto me , we walked around the yard, the monastery  playing a game and had a great time laughing together !
Life is so simple, we don’t always have to think  of great deeds all the time, Jesus is not preparing  plans for "saving the world “, He simply goes and loves ! Peter’s mother-in-law is ill with a fever , goes and visits her , speaks to her kindly , affection produces love , the elderly woman gets up and serves Jesus’ dinner , then they move on with  kindness and love ! Where the Master is not welcome they just move on smiling , Jesus is not looking for tasks , He patiently solves the tasks coming His way  !
How great it would be if I dared to embark on this simple, natural , joyous way of Jesus Christ , if I also dared to love always where I happen to be , just the one , who turns his/her face towards me , in a manner in which I am  most needed by my brother/sister !
With love,

As soon as they left the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told him about her at once. He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them.
That evening, at sunset, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons. And the whole city was gathered around the door. And he cured many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.
In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed. And Simon and his companions hunted for him. When they found him, they said to him, ‘Everyone is searching for you.’ He answered, ‘Let us go on to the neighbouring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.’ And he went throughout Galilee, proclaiming the message in their synagogues and casting out demons.

Jesus calls, moulds , then sends His apostles , disciples with infinite humility , because the harvest is plentiful , the workers are few! I am Jesus’ disciple also , and the Lord is also sending me , but not only sends me but He would also like that His  beautiful feature of organising communities , prompting people to do good should radiate from within me as well .The work is plentiful, the workers are few. Christ wants me as well to call and motivate,  the people living around me to carry out good deeds. Reading today’s gospel lets think about this, how much can I get the people around me, to get them moving and convince them of carrying out fruitful work ?!
Unfortunately many times I discovered rather jealousy , silly envy in the people living under the same roof. , and not the willingness for cooperation ! Naively we believe that my companion with his successful work  pushes us out of the limelight and the possibility of a real sense of achievement ! For this reason if he has a willingness to work together with me we rather keep them off the playing field , even if not consciously , but so that we prove that they are unsuited , unable to carry out the task that weighs heavily upon me just about braking my back !
Lets cast our eyes upon Christ ! It’s quite certain that the difference between Him and the people living in those times were poles apart , on a much greater scale than between me an the people living around me , for this reason it was much more difficult for Him to raise His apostles and the 72 disciples to His level, then to build a team for us ! Jesus succeeded , we don’t read it anywhere the He would reprimand , scold His friends, His disciples !! If I really want to become a follower of Christ , then I have to give up  with a solitary way of life and I have to start building consciously the kingdom of God around me , His beautiful living family ! Lets try with patience and love to involve  others in that work that God entrusted me with , with the spirituality that he has to grow , and I have to become less significant because if with time I am going to retire , they can take and carry on with the work that God entrusted us with !!

Jesus called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He ordered them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; but to wear sandals and not to put on two tunics. He said to them, "Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place. If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them." So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

Belief and Unbelief ! Why is it that some believe and others don’t ?! Faith is God’s beautiful gift ! But then why is Jesus surprised by people’s unbelief : " he was amazed at their unbelief” Mark 6,6
These are important questions ?! There are those  who are given everything and yet they are unbelievers , depressed and are ruthlessly scolding the world , others in the midst of great suffering , at death door look forward with faith and trust ! Koller Katalin , the former winner of the title Miss Hungary -beauty queen , died just recently . She, herself lets us have a glance into her beautiful spirit , experiences giving her strength ! I would like to draw your attention to some of her beautiful thoughts :
“ I am going to tell you a story because I believe that by this I can help others too and if this is the case it makes everything more meaningful…. I am grateful that I had a chance to travel this path , because I have learnt an awful lot from the past period. There is a lot that I already knew , but now I also  really live according to this - freely , without fear , with a completely new and different scale of values. I have a totally different approach to people, myself , the world , to God . I am aware that other’s opinion does not define anybody else , that everything is decided in one’s mind and that our constitution really reacts to what we think and believe . I have learnt to forgive and live without anger , to appreciate every moment , to laugh with all my heart . I never laughed so much and so heartily as these past times. I adored the fact that the mosquitoes did not bite me -they are not compatible with chemo- and that because of the wigs each day I could have a different hairdo - considering that earlier on I never even had my hair coloured ……
The purpose of my writing was expressly , to give others hope and faith , because there is a way out of everything . ….I stared down death  this time , he blinked , but I know that the day will come when I’ll look aside and this is good like this . Since we will all depart one day, nobody is an exception . Perhaps from that point I am especially lucky because of what has happened that I am no longer afraid of this day. I know , we are infinite being. The reason for us being here  now is to love , to learn and to teach . I learnt that the NOW is what matters, yesterday has passed , tomorrow is not here yet and it is not really important , how many years we have lived but how we spent our years . I know that there  still is a lot more new adventure , knowledge , experience , laughter  awaiting me , I’ll be here for a good while yet if the tram does not “ hit" me in the meantime, that is obviously on the look out for all of us around the corner . :D The essence is whatever life may produce the golden rule is valid : it is not the quantity but the quality that counts , and LOVE is really capable of producing miracles ! Live well , to the full , love very much and a lot ! “ Katalin
Lets think with a prayerful love of our wonderful , dear teacher Katalin, since she never lost even during her suffering her living faith but strengthened it ! May God grant that all she learnt during her suffering that we can learn it being of sound body and mind !
With love ,

Jesus left that place and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. On the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, "Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?" And they took offence at him. Then Jesus said to them, "Prophets are not without honour, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house." And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. And he was amazed at their unbelief. Then he went about among the villages teaching.

Jesus looks up and then raises the dead child from the dead and "told them to give her something to eat.”Matthew 5, 43 .
Jesus turns towards the children! The Master does not just love the children “romantically” but He puts everything aside , interrupts His journey , undertakes, accepts tiredness, the journey, everything , because somewhere a child is suffering , is ill , is in trouble ! It is amazing to see , that even though the parents also have given up on the child , Jesus does not give up , goes and saves the little girl!
Today’s man is selfish , only pays attention to his own needs , and this spirit of the time , whether we want it or not permeates all of us , this is why simply we do not hear the voices of children in trouble ! With an intentional blindness we just wave our hand in resignation , this is a matter for the parents, for the doctors, for the child protection agencies , after all we pay our taxes so that they can take care of it ! Jesus could have also said that in the great work of saving the world there is no room for Him to run after all sorts of children , or because He is working on the sermon of the Mount , and for this reason He does not go anywhere , the parents, the school, the teachers should look more carefully after the children another time !
It is not enough to love the children only in abstract terms and trust the rest to the different systems , others, but one has to notice if an underage child is in trouble, or got lost, or became sick  or hungry and if even from their own faults they get into trouble , they still have to be helped ! Our Lord Jesus Christ bending down to the children in trouble should be our example , so for the sake of our children we should be able to put aside our work, our goals , and we should also get going with an attentive tenderness on the way of love !

When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered round him; and he was by the lake. Then one of the leaders of the synagogue named Jairus came and, when he saw him, fell at his feet and begged him repeatedly, ‘My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and live.’ So he went with him.
And a large crowd followed him and pressed in on him. Now there was a woman who had been suffering from haemorrhages for twelve years. She had endured much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had; and she was no better, but rather grew worse. She had heard about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, for she said, ‘If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well.’ Immediately her haemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, ‘Who touched my clothes?’ And his disciples said to him, ‘You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, “Who touched me?” ’ He looked all round to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling, fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.’
While he was still speaking, some people came from the leader’s house to say, ‘Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?’ But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the leader of the synagogue, ‘Do not fear, only believe.’ He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. When they came to the house of the leader of the synagogue, he saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. When he had entered, he said to them, ‘Why do you make a commotion and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping.’ And they laughed at him. Then he put them all outside, and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, ‘Talitha cum’, which means, ‘Little girl, get up!’ And immediately the girl got up and began to walk about (she was twelve years of age). At this they were overcome with amazement. He strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.

“….he taught them as one having authority, “Mark 1, 21
Every truth is worth as much , that can be utilised  from it in the real world !Jesus’ teaching is important for me because life stems from it ! I can picture the face of an ordinary little boy who came from a very poor  family whom I took in , in the light of Christ’s teaching and tried to raise him with my colleagues ! The years passed and today this young man is holding a job down , created a home and is getting ready to have a family , with his face shining with joy he is giving thanks for what he has, what he  has achieved , for being alive and for having friends ! I visited him yesterday and he introduced proudly the family that took him in in Budapest, becoming his parents replacing his own , taught him how to operate heavy machinery , and leading a life with a purposeful , diligent work building his future ! After my visit yesterday Dani sent me the following SMS : “ I thank you all very much for visiting me . For me it was a dream come true to sit at the same table with the people who formed my life ! May God bless you , and thank you for my dream coming true ! I thank you for making a man out of me and not letting me get lost , THANK YOU! With lots of love Dani.
Jesus’ teaching , the commandment of love is like a terribly simple mathematical formula , that if we apply to our everyday life , it will always bring wonderful results ! Anybody can try it and they will experience , that Jesus’ teaching works successfully even under the most difficult situations ! I encourage you lovingly to read the gospel , embark on its way leading into the world of miracles , try this in your everyday life , the commandment of love and you’ll also experience the formative force of your Redeemer ’s teaching directing your life in the right direction.

When the sabbath came, Jesus entered the synagogue and taught. They were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God." But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!" And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. They were all amazed, and they kept on asking one another, "What is this? A new teaching - with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him." At once his fame began to spread throughout the surrounding region of Galilee.

A miracle: In the broad sense , everything that elicits , an awe , a wonderment : strictly speaking an event brought about by God’s intervention in suspending the course of nature.
For me it is a miracle that two young colleagues Andrea and Guszti set off from the children’s home in Petrozsény with ten students and in Budapest in a packed church put on a show , happily , smiling , bravely singing, and by their performance they win the approval, applause of the inhabitants of the capital ! Yes for me it’s a miracle that our son growing up in our child protection home gets on his feet , sets out and years later returns with his lovely wife , looks for work and becomes a carer ! It’s a miracle that this child from a poor background getting back on his feet , after carrying out his duties , with hard work cleans the old chapel wrecked during the communist era and was totally written off , organises the work , calls in tradesmen , renews the walls , the ceiling , the attic , the sanctuary named after the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ ! I bow my head as I can see that my dear colleagues outstanding ,from the other young people of today ,prepare a home here on earth, a chapel for our Redeemer where together with the other orphans that can worship, glorify our Creator God ! In my heart the flower of gratitude and joy blooms , when I can see that our God today as well, in our families is capable , can perform a miracle ! I bow my head together with the apostles who can find peace on the stormy sea , and I give praise and thanks in the presence of Jesus Christ performing the miracle !

On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples:
"Let us cross to the other side."
Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was.
And other boats were with him.
A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat,
so that it was already filling up.
Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion.
They woke him and said to him,
"Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"
He woke up,
rebuked the wind,
and said to the sea, "Quiet! Be still!"
The wind ceased and there was great calm.
